Wil Freeborn and Stuart Kerr: Drawings

I came across Wil and Stuart's website by accident and was immediately drawn into their drawings and watercolour sketch works. In fact, these guys are having an art exhibition in Glasgow this summer. Unfortunately, I cannot visit the exhibition myself, but people in Glasgow or planning to go there before 16th of June should definitely check it out.

Se olis huomenna sitten viimeinen koe tiedossa. Sitten se on neljä vuotta siinä. Uskomatonta.

I had the most amazing evening snack just ten minutes ago. I made a little rye bread and had a few slices of that with butter. Can't wait to have rye bread at home on regular basis! Yes you carb haters, you read it right. I cannot wait to have rye bread in the house :D

I also saw the funniest thing in the kitchen today. Charlie was spooning half of a water melon out of a deep cereal bowl. He had put the melon inside the bowl, the fruit side upwards of course, and was literally spooning it out from the shelf. Genious, I say!

I had a heureka moment at 2.30am last night. I found a solution to my hideous bathroom to be problem. I'm going to paint the tiles over with ceramic bathroom tile paint and then polish the tile grouts with a special pen. The colour is now dark peach (goose bumps and shivers down the spine in a bad way!) and it is just upsetting :) However, there is a large-scale water pipe renovation coming up within a year's time so replacing the tiles now is not an option.

The bathroom itself is small anyway so I hope that by painting the tiles white would create an illusion of a bigger space. The bathroom also lacks storaging space, so I hope that by putting a few wooden shelves on the wall solves that problem temperarily and by hanging a few towels on display will make the whole bathroom appear softer. Fingers crossed :)

I think it is just silly to throw something away only because it is too old or is out of date. I'm a big believer in taking care after your things (regardless what they might be) and I believe that it is always a good idea to try to fix something first if it breaks down. If you can't do it yourself, it doesn't mean that it gives you a permission to get rid of it. Oh no :) I passionately hate it when people chuck things away without giving it a second thought. I mean, if you have something that cannot be fixed and repaired anymore or repairing itself would cost considerably more than a new one then fair enough, take your clothes, furniture, books etc. to a recycling centre. But do not bin anything that might help someone else!

Right, so now I can get to my actual point: I'd like to get an old reading chair upholstered. I'm moving flats this summer and I'm trying to reuse and adopt as many old items as possible. I have a long list of things that I need to get and I don't see the point of buying everything new. I'm very aware of the fact that for instance upholstering that old reading chair would cost me a lot of money, but having it done and having the chair there with me would be amazing. I'd love it. So now we shall see how low I can in reality bargain the price down.

Mä varasin itselleni just ajan Dermalogica kasvoanalyysiin että ihonpuhdistukseen maanantaille. Mulla on alkanut viimeisen vuoden aikana tulla ihan kamalasti epäpuhtautta leuan alueelle, joka näkyy tietenkin myös ulospäin. Katsotaan mitä mun dermalogical therapist sanoo ja mitä mulle mahdetaan siellä määrätä :)

I decided to reward myself for achieving a particular goal despite setbacks. Thus, I finally ordered myself a pair of black leather Tory Burch flats <3
Also, Redken hair care products were on sale, how convenient I thought,  and added two shampoos and conditioners in the shopping basket too.

Reading week

My last ever reading week has started! I'm surprisingly calm and have completely adopted an attitude according to which I concentrate on quality over quantity. I do what I can do within a week's time and that is enough.

I will start up early every morning so that I'm in the library before 9am and then do a reading subject until lunchtime. Then I will continue with a language for two or so hours. I have also booked an exercise class for each day, which means that I have a proper schedule and can be productive as well as get some exercise every day. Doing something active is a great way to air your thoughts and stretch those stiff backs and shoulders. After the gym/classes I will go home and have my dinner. After dinner I will work for two to three hours and then finally after work, I will make myself a cup of tea and a bowl of yoghurt and berries have a little chat in the kitchen and after that I can dedicate some time for bed side reading before it is time to go to sleep.

I know that this probably doesn't sound very exciting, but I'm determined to make my last reading week as nice as I possibly can. So this means that even though I will be doing mostly 8 to 10 hours of reading every single day, I'm still going to meet friends as I can ask people to have lunch with me or maybe go for a walk. Here again, quality over quantity.

For instance, today I woke up 7.15, had break fast and started at the Business School 8.30am. Had an hour's lunch with Robin from 12 until 1pm. Did Chinese in the language centre until 2.30pm. Had pilates from 3 to 4pm. Talked on the phone with mum whilst I was making dinner, which took me until 5.30. From then on I started working and finished that at 7.30. Did Chinese grammar for half an hour. Now I'm stretching my back a bit until I take my strategic management books out again and do a few hour's worth of beside reading, as at 11pm it will be my bed time.

Barbour

I like brands that have history behind them and most importantly they have something that distinguishes their products from their competitors'. I rather spend on products that have efficient after sale services as if the product breaks I know that I can get it professionally fixed. Indeed, all Barbour jackets are made to last a lifetime and they come with a full guarantee of two (waterproof jackets) or one year (the rest of the range) from the date of purchase (more information on www.barbour.com).

This of course means that I will have to stick to the same jacket for years, but you know to be honest, I don't mind :) I have a pair of old Ecco boots which I have taken to get repaired twice now (heeled probably four of five times), and hence, they are still in a really good condition and my favourite pair of boots. I bought them in 2007 and have practically lived in them for the past four years. Obviously, I have had other boots in between too, but this particular pair has managed to impress. But yes back to Barbour, I was thinking about getting myself either one of theirs waxed or quilted jackets -just don't know yet which one to go for.
